Volume

A mini residency in the City Library, Newcastle based around the library’s ‘Fifth-sized’ book collection.

‘Fifth-sized’ books are oversized editions, generally over 50cm in the longest dimension. Using large inflatable forms built in a temporary studio space within the library, ‘Volume’ explored the architecture of the building in a series of very temporary illuminated installations photographed out of hours. ‘Volume’ became an experiment in scale, light and time - measurable dimensions - with a view to a ‘fifth-sized’ publication of the photographic images.
