Brogued

A series of augmented reality installations around Northampton's historic boot and shoe quarter.

Most of the many former shoes factories in this part of Northampton specialised in men's shoes. 'Brogues' are a style of shoe that take their name from the ornamentation made from punching holes in the uppers. Each manufacturer had their own distinctive patterns made using this method.

'Brogued' is a repetitive pattern of shapes drawn directly from the brogueing patterns used by different Northampton shoe makers.
