A new paper bridge in China - the home of paper, to be driven over in a a full-sized L405 model Range Rover. Commissioned by Land Rover Jaguar to mark the 45th anniversary of Range Rover .

The bridge, which was built over three and a half days, was used for a night time photo shoot and video launched at the Guangzhou Motor Fair 2015.

The white paper bridge was two metres wide with a five metre arched span, over three metres highand stood and constructed without the use of glue, nuts and bolts or any other fixing. It was built from 54,390 sheets of ‘Natural Crystal White’ 330gsm paper supplied by James Cropper PLC

The bridge was built on the 18th Century Ligongdi - a man-made island across Jinji Lake, now an official Scenic Area affording expansive views over the largest city lake in China. The city of Suzhou is known for its network of canals, lakes and bridges and is itself a UNESCO World Heritage Site. With its sweeping ramps and constant radius arch, PaperBridge China was inspired by the vernacular bridge style of Jiangsu Province. Its situation next to the lake created a number of set-piece framed views in keeping with traditional Chinese garden and landscape design.

A very temporary installation - existing for only a few hours before being taken down and recycled. The paper was bound into notebooks for schools in China as well as being used for print and presentation products for the client. All other materials were recycled in China.
